Proceeds from the event will benefit multiple programs at Franklin High School.  From the graphic design students who created the posters to the culinary arts students who will be providing refreshments, many FHS students are actively involved in organizing this unique and exciting event.

A group of local restaurant owners are joining forces to support culinary arts education at Franklin High School.  The local restaurateurs recently presented the school with a check for $3,000.  The money will support students as they pursue their dreams of a career in the restaurant and food service industry through the ProStart program.

Franklin High will join only a handful of high schools across the state in the ProStart program, which emphasizes culinary techniques and management skills as a way of providing real world educational opportunities.  ProStart is managed through the Tennessee Hospitality Education Foundation.

Andy Marshall, owner of Puckett's Grocery and Restaurant; Tom Loventhal, owner of Noshville Delicatessan; Jason McConnell, owner of the Red Pony, 5 South and Sol; and the Nashville Originals each pledged $750 to the school.

"We are so grateful for this generous support of our ProStart program," said WCS Career and Technical Education Coordinator Jackie Baggett.  "It's local community leaders like these that make engaged education a reality."

The finals will be Saturday at 12:30 at GPS.

Also in the state soccer tournament, BGA opens play in the Division II Class AA competition against once beaten St. Agnes with the winner advancing to Saturday's 5:30 finals of the four-team bracket.
