Williamson County Parks and Recreation (WCPR) is pleased to offer a series of youth tennis classes utilizing the USTA "Quickstart" tennis program, a new format designed to help children 10 years and under learn to play the game.
WCPR Tennis Professional Jonathan Hains will be the instructor for the program, which will be held at the Indoor Sports Complex (ISC) in Brentwood, 920 Heritage Way. Classes will be divided between 8 yrs. & under (Elem. 1 or Elem. 2), and 10 yrs. & under (Elem. 3).
The main differences between traditional learning and the “Quickstart” format are the use of a scaled-down court, lower nets, a low-compression ball, and junior size rackets. According to Hains, as a result of these court and equipment changes, “learning tennis is easier and more fun, which in turn allows students to begin playing games and competing more quickly.”
Registration is now open for the seven-week session, October 24-December 17. For more information about Quickstart tennis classes with Jonathan Hains, please call the front desk at the ISC at (615)370-3471, ext. 10.
