Our Canning Seminar will be held on Saturday, May 26th from 9:00 – 11:00 am and we will cover the following topics:

1.  Pressure Canning

2.  Water Bath Canning

3.  Blanching (for the freezer)

4.  Jams and Jellies

5.  Pickling

The cost of the seminar is $30 and we will provide handouts and recipes for all covered topics. Please call 615-591-0015, or reply to this e-mail, to register for the event.

Canning classes are held a few times a year, so if you are unable to attend on May 26th, we will have two more sessions during the canning season.  The class is an actual two hour demonstration of pressure canning and water bath canning. The processes of preserving jams/jellies and pickles are also included. Five to ten people can attend, but never over 10...so it is personal and interactive. After the class, if you have any questions, you will have access to me by e-mail and phone, as long as you need.

We look forward to seeing you at the Farm!

NASHVILLE --- Scott Somershoe, ornithologist for The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, has announced the agency is looking for bald eagle nests across Tennessee in 2012.
TWRA, in partner with other government agencies and private citizens, have been monitoring bald eagle nests across the state for many years; however there are gaps in monitoring as birds have moved nests and many new nests are appearing annually.
New eagle nests are showing up across the state, including one within the city limits of Franklin, and there are many other nests that may have been around for years that are not included in the statewide database.
Somershoe says it is the aim to conduct a complete inventory of eagle nests in the state in 2012. The goal of the project is to document all active nesting locations in the state as part of a comprehensive nest monitoring program to estimate population size and growth for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
If you have any questions or know of any bald eagle nests, please contact Somershoe at (615) 781-6653 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

CHARLIE's Info...
Breed: Pomeranian Mix Color: Red/Golden/Orange/Chestnut Age: Adult
Size: Small 25 lbs (11 kg) or less Sex: Male

I am already neutered, housetrained, and up to date with shots.

CHARLIE's Story...

Charlie is a 3 year old Pomeranian mix weighing about 8 lbs. He was dropped off at Animal Control one day, with no explanation, while the little girl in the family cried. Charlie was thrown so far out of his realm of usual life at the shelter and he just couldn’t adjust. Seeing the potential in Charlie, some of the workers there arranged for a rescue group to please give him a try. Well, as soon as he was removed from the scary shelter and into a caring foster home, Charlie showed his true self. He is a sweet, charming, affectionate little guy that reminds you of an endearing baby fox. He is house trained, crate trained, walks nicely on a leash, behaves well in the car, gets along with other dogs and his favorite past time is cuddling up with people. How could anyone give up a dog like this? So now Charlie needs a new home and we are sure the right family is out there. Please contact us, if it is you. ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED. About Our Rescue Group...
We are a group of dedicated rescue people who want to save as many dogs and cats from the local shelters before they are euthanized. On the average....there are only 1 out of 10 animals that get adopted from a shelter. We are dedicated to helping increase pet adoptions by offering a shelter animal a foster home to go to while awaiting an adoptive family to find them on our Petfinder website. Won't you please adopt a shelter animal? Or won't you please help us foster a shelter animal while we are looking for their perfect home? What a gift you can give a dog or cat by giving them a place to feel safe and secure....a forever home or a foster home. Won't you help us at Critter Cavalry give them a chance to have a life?

Self-Registration Portal for REVERSE 911 Emergency Notification System. With so many people transitioning from traditional landline telephones to cell, wireless and VoIP phones, the collection of 911 data is growing increasingly difficult. (Click here for more information) The City of Brentwood is encouraging local residents to voluntarily provide emergency notification phone numbers in order to expand effectiveness of our REVERSE 911 Emergency Notification System. The Emergency Notification System is a mapping software system that will notify citizens of emergencies or any important information in your area. This might be something simple as a message about recent police activity in for your neighborhood to critical emergencies like amber alerts or evacuations.

We are asking you to provide additional contact information as it relates to your home address. The next few screens will ask you for your street name and your house number. Then you will be able to enter several phone numbers that you wish to be contacted at. Once the information has been submitted, someone from the city will contact you to verify this information.

FRANKLIN, Tenn. — Franklin civic leaders, historians and preservationists are encouraged by a recent allocation of $500,000 from the Tennessee Department of Transportation to be applied to construction of a Battle of Franklin park “loop road.”

This road would provide access for interpretation of acreage crossed by the Confederate right flank during the Army of Tennessee’s attack in the Nov. 30, 1864, battle.

Paul Gaddis, president of the local preservation group Franklin’s Charge, said the grant is “a huge step for us to have this ground interpreted by the battle’s sesquicentennial and is an incredible move by the state.”

We added an article on Rooster's before, but we think it needs another look. Brentwood, TN – Men have longed for the return of the classic American barbershop in Brentwood where they can get real men’s hair cuts, complete with hot facial shaves and men’s grooming services their fathers enjoyed at the local corner barbershop. The 21st Century man wants to get away from the constant chatter and gossip among women in the unisex salons.
