One-On-One with the Teenage Entrepreneur, Brittny Reid of Belledonne Spa in Brentwood.
Entrepreneur
I sat down with Brittny Reid to ask how she became a business owner at nineteen.
This girl is incredibly knowledgeable of her craft and is genuinely thankful for the position she is in now. She is an employee, business owner, and has even become a public speaker on what she does and the products she uses. Her passion is inspiring.
Growing up in Franklin, Brittny went to Page High School and was always interested in the human body. Involved in anatomy class, latin and volunteering at Williamson Medical, she sought the medical route via Belmont with a kind of tunnel vision. Unfortunately tuition was beyond reach so she rerouted her passion towards the spa industry where she was already involved.
In with school and volunteering, Brittny worked at a local spa for three years. Here, she was introduced to the business, grew in customer service, and learned the basics of esthetics. She enjoyed making people feel good and learning about the human body so the move from medicine to the spa was surprisingly not a far jump.
While in school to be an esthetician, there was a project to create a business plan for your own spa. I guess once Brittny’s wheels got turning, they never stopped. Looking to her dad, who had money saved for her use, she thought, “Why not!” The concept had been created and the plan had been set so they began the brand. Then, Belledonne Spa opened in Brentwood.
Belledonne means beautiful woman and the mission is truly to make women feel beautiful in their own skin. Brittny enjoys the glow her clients have as they leave (especially after body contouring – read below for further explanation). She aims to keep her prices down, her quality up, and hopes that with this, she’ll have five salons by the time she is thirty. Belledonne has been open for four months (open house tonight – details below) and is already having to expand. I’d say she is on her way.
Body Contouring
Brittny offers body contouring at her spa; she is the only one in Tennessee with the machines she uses (Lumicell Touch). Needless to say, her equipment is high quality as well as her technique. I can’t go into complete detail as to how she is different – trade secrets, you know – but she will be happy to tell you herself. You should drop by the open house with any questions.
Body Contouring can be looked at as a type of body cleanse but it tones and tightens as well. The head of this small machine is rubbed along your skin to break down adipose tissue, fat cells, and then it is worked through your lymphatic system to flush out. Brittny moves down with your digestive tract so the session can cause your digestion and movements to be more regular while losing inches. Now, this is a very simple explanation but Brittny has all the medical terms for you.
I had the pleasure of experiencing a body contouring session and I really mean it was a pleasure. I’m a small, fit person thinking I don’t have much to lose but in one session, she took off almost ten inches. It was incredible! I especially loved that it broke down that area right above the knee, which seems impossible to tighten.
Each session is full body with time focused on where you need it most. It has a suction apparatus so imagine literally having a vacuum taken across your skin. It is not painful but some areas are more sensitive than others. Having my inner thighs done made my toes curl and fists clench, but other than that, it was like a deep tissue massage. She is not shy about applying pressure, and you want her to work it in because that will give greater results.
This treatment even continues to work post-session especially if you work out. Your system keeps flushing out and session-to-session you keep seeing results. You will be measured before and after each time you come in so you can see the change on paper as well as in the mirror. I can’t wait to go in for my second session.
Skin Care
Along with her state-of-the-art body contouring machines, Brittny uses Image Skin Care and it can also be purchased at her shop.
Image Skin Care is an all-natural line that uses no petrochemicals, no parabens, no chemical preservatives and no animal testing. I was given a sample and I can always tell the difference between natural and synthetic by how my face reacts. These products are clean.
Another great thing about Brittny is that she would never have you do something or use a product that she has not tried; she personally uses Image Skin Care.
Open House
Tonight at 6:30, Belledonne Spa in Brentwood, TN is having an open house. Reserve a spot! They are offering a thirty minute massage, peel or body contouring session.
