Put on your walking shoes!  The Fifth Annual WCS Activity Contest began Sunday.

The nine-week activity program is held in conjunction with Walk Across Williamson and challenges participants to track the amount of time they spend exercising each week.

Last year, this event experienced tremendous growth increasing from 1,865 participants in 2010 to 4,424 participants in 2011, and 2012 hopes to be even bigger and better.  If you are a member of a school community, find out if your school has formed a team and join in on the fun.  So far, 21 Williamson County schools are in the process of organizing their teams.  By participating in the program, schools can earn Coordinated School Health mini-grants to improve the health of their students.  An adult who is not part of a school community or a member of a school team can still participate as an individual by completing the activity logs.

The program culminates with an April Celebration Event Saturday, April 21 at 9 a.m. at Liberty Elementary in Franklin.  The April celebration will include school contest results, give-aways and drawings for great prizes.  All event details, including activity logs, are located at http://www.wcs.edu/csh/wxw.htm.  Hard copies of activity logs are available for print as well as a downloadable self-calculating Excel version.   Keep those New Year’s resolutions rolling by getting involved in this year’s Walk Across Williamson activity program!
